  • Difficulty in understanding/comprehending language
  • Marked impairment in expressive language

  • Impairment in the use and understanding of nonverbal behaviours such as eye contact, facial expression, body postures, and gestures to facilitate social interactions
  • Lack of spontaneous interaction
  • Lack of social or emotional understanding
  • Lack of varied, spontaneous pretend or social imitative play

 

Challenging and Stereotyped Patterns of Behaviour

  • Preoccupation with one or more stereotyped and restricted patterns of interest, that is abnormal either in intensity or focus
  • Inflexible to change
